Check your unit over when it arrives. Mine was boxed up all but still had significant damage to one corner. I assume it was damaged at the factory and then boxed up that way. My unit is still fully functional though and is installed in a cabinet so I didn't try and deal with the difficult return/replacement process.Installation was very easy. I installed an in-line filter and the ice is very clear and great tasting. The sump pump works very well and does make some noise but it doesn't run very long when it cycles. The ice making is also a bit noisy but not obnoxious. It fills up well within a day once I fire it up. Overall I'm quite pleased with the performance of this machine.Ice cubes come out in sheets, not cubs. You have to break them up.Excellent ice maker!! Makes great ice and very quickly.We chose this icemaker specifically because of the size to replace another one that we had built in. It is a fast icemaker but it can be noisy and when the ice comes out it comes in big Squares of little ice cubes. I have to keep a metal meat tenderizer in the freezer as I am always breaking up the blocks of ice!! I tried to take a picture but it came out too dark.My $3500.00 Electrolux ice maker stopped making ice and parts to repair were very expensive, if they were even available. After researching a replacement model I choose this unit for price, features, and the fact that it has a drain pump built in. Installation was a breeze...less than 30 minutes... It looks great, is not at all loud, and is making more ice than I ever imagined. It is truly a great value. Packaging was top notch from Amazon...not a hint of freight damage. My lucky day!I'M REHABBING A PENTHOUSE IN FLORIDA AND WANTED A KITCHEN AID ICE MACHINE LIKE I HAVE HAD IN MANY PRIOR HOMES.DUE TO CURRENT SUPPLY LINE PROBLEMS THE KITCHENAID HAD A 6-8 MONTH LEADTIME!DID RESEARCH AND DEEMED THIS TO BE A DECENT ALTERNATIVE.THE DUURA MAKES A LOT OF ICE. IT IS QUIETER THAN THE KITCHEN AID WHICH BANGS CLANKS AND PURRS WHILE TURNING OUT PERFECT CLEAR ICE. IT IS ABOUT $1,000 CHEAPER THAN THE KITCHEN AID.BUT...IT MAKES ICE IN PERFORATED PADS THAT SORT OF BREAK WHEN DROPPING INTO THE BIN, BUT NOT VERY MUCH. YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE SUPPLIED METAL SCOOP AND SMASH THE PADS INTO SMALLER PIECES. THE ICE IS CLEAR AND GOOD SIZED CUBES AFTER BREAKING APART. THIS MACHINE IS SO CLOSE TO BEING A KITCHENAID KILLER, BUT TOO FAR AWAY AT THE SAME TIME.THE BLUE LIGHT IS NOT AN ENHANCEMENT IMHO, WHITE WOULD BE PREFERABLE.The ice machine is one of my favorite appliances. We use a lot of ice! This machine produces ice quickly and efficiently. It is a bit noisy when the pump comes on, but not bothersome to us. It doesn't stay on long. The ice is going to taste as good as your tap water unless you put the water filter on. Which I highly recommend. It makes all the difference in the taste of your ice. We have only had this for a couple months. If we start having problems I will update my review.While the ice is clear and tastes fine, The making of the ice is very noisy! The blue light is not helpful in the least. We bought this because it was the only ice maker that fit in our cabinet. Happy with the look.
