I’ve had a couple different lames and this one is by far the best. I love the box. It’s always been a challenge storing my lame in the kitchen drawer without accidentally cutting myself. The box that comes with this lame is not only beautiful and sturdy, but it saves me from accidentally cutting myself. I REALLY appreciate that! This brand will be my new go to.Not bad but I find the curved blade awkward.Love the products. Came in with a nice box and easy to store away with necessary protection in one box.This is a great product and comes in its own little wooden box for safe keeping when not in use. Even the bottom of the box is lined. It also has extra blades and and has its own leather pouch to cover the blade. Easy to hold and easy to use to cut delicate or wide slashes in bread dough. I really enjoy using this as I bake bread at least twice on a weekly basis. Makes beautiful cuts on pies also. The only thing I would suggest is that it come with a small paper showing different cuts as a suggestion of what this tool can make. You can find different examples on Utube of many bakers making these cuts, but it would be nice if it came with its own. This is a must for bread and pie makers to have on hand in the kitchen. No digging in a drawer for a sharp tool that can cut fingers. When needed, just reach for the wooden box. Love this tool.I've had this bread lame for about a month now and I can confidently say that I love it. Prior to this, I had a cheap plastic one, that while it did work, didn't feel good in the hand so I never did anything except a quick slash. And prior to that I was using a sharp knife. The Bread Bosses lame is a HUGE step up in my bread game.First off, it's beautifully made, and comes in a nice wooden box to store it in, not to mention the leather cover for the blade. These together make me much more confident storing the lame. It also comes with 10 blades, so I can't imagine when I would need to buy more.I've used it on about 6 loaves of bread at this point, and with each bake, I've found that my slashes are exactly where I want them, and at the intended angle. It's also very easy to clean since there are no notches in the wood anywhere. The only thing I can think of to improve upon is that it could be a few grams heavier. But that is an extremely personal preference, so I can't knock anyone for that.All in all, for the money, this is a top notch lame and I don't see myself needing another one ever again. Next up is trying some bread art now that I have the right tool! Great job Bread Bosses!This is a very good product for several reasons.1. I love that the Bread Bosses lame comes in a wooden box and has a leather blade cover. This is very important for the safety of anyone who happens to put their hand in my utensil drawer.2. The woodgrain handle of the lame is beautiful!3. At $15 and change this product is a great value. I have seen and purchased lesser lames for twice that price.4. It is lightweight and the size fits near perfectly in my small hands.Cons:1. The lame may be a little too light weight for my liking. The lightness of the lame made it a bit difficult to manipulate with confidence. Although, I confess that could be more me being a little rusty with my skills, than the lame weight, so I did not mark off for it.2. I have noticed, since my first use, that the razor blade on the Bread Bosses lame is quite curved. A lot more curved than the razor blade on my Breadtopia lame. This may also cause a learning curve for some users, it did for me. However, I also did not mark off for this, because it is an individual preference issue not a design defect.All in all, I am extremely pleased with my purchase and will continue to use the lame.I recently started making sourdough bread and was using a single edge razor blade to score the top. It worked but not easily or very well. I was certain there had to be a tool so I searched.I found this one and decided to buy two, one for me and one for my daughter, another new baker.I am thrilled with it! Here’s why...It is very well made with a nice wood handle. Very attractive (and sharp so be careful)It comes with extra bladesIt scores the dough so easily with a curved slice. I’m still learning so not perfect yet but I’ll get there!It has a small leather “pouch” that covers the blade when not in useAn information card is included with a link to additional information.AND...it all comes in a beautiful wooden box, that slides open and is branded on the top with their logo.Perfect for me! Perfect for gift giving! Something you’d be proud to give to another bread baker!I make a lot of artisan breads so this is a very handy tool. I have used serrated knives in the past but they always drag across the surface and make nodules along the path of the cut. This cuts neatly and cleanly and it is easy to go back over an initial cut. Like most lames you need to make sure that you are cutting with a leading edge and not the whole blade, or the blade tends to dig in and make an irregular cut. It feels good in the hand and is easy to use. It works well on sourdough breads, which often are more delicate than some of the yeast breads. I bought an additional one for my daughter-in-law. I am not sure what the significance is of maneuverability but I gave four stars because it is long enough to induce some caution when trying to cut a loaf that is deep in a flaming hot pot, but then it likely true of any lame.Ok bought this to replace an old plastic one where you couldn’t replace the blade. No, it doesn’t come with instructions on how to put on the blade but really it’s not that hard to figure out. Bend blade slightly and slide it on. I didn’t need instructions to figure that out. Yes the metal round piece at the handle can separate, after reading the reviews I checked how easily it separates. It takes little force to come off..... it also goes back on. I used a bit of glue to keep it there..... something really I shouldn’t have to do, given the price. The cover for the blade is vinyl. All in all it gets the job done holds the blade well, easy to maneuver. Really I think your paying for the box more then the lame. The less expensive ones are just as sturdy, they just don’t have a storage box.This has totally upped my bread scoring game! I had always used knives, but this is a game changer, allowing me to get beautiful designs and a wonderful "ear" on my bread. I love the case it comes in, making it easy to store and reducing the risk of my kids hurting themselves on it.Bought this bread lame! It’s fantastic! I love it!I was tired of just using a razor as I couldn’t really get a nice ‘score’ without worrying about slicing my fingers! So I’m delighted to have found this. I have gifted it twice already too! The box it comes with is Also sturdy and really nice for storing it with the razors.The quality of the product it is very low given the high price paid. In addition, the bread must be "pierced" so that the blade can penetrate it, which causes sagging. Also, the wood of the handle is split. Although I tried to reach the seller about it, I never got a response from it. I do not recommend this blade nor the seller.This lame gives us the nice deep cuts we were looking to do to our sourdough bread. It feels good in our hands, it's nice to have extra blades and a protective covering. The razors fall off quite easily but also go back on just as easily and stay in place long enough to do the job.
