I installed this product for one of my customers a little over a year ago. I used a threaded 1/2" adapter to Pex. No heat involved, no stress on the product. No indications of a problem for at least six months, which is the amount of time it took for various contractors to finish the kitchen after I installed this product. Then the top cap of the valve began to leak ... behind the fridge of course, where it couldn't be seen. By the time my customers smelled the mold, it was too late. They had to hire contractors to dry their kitchen and crawlspace, replace a major portion of their kitchen floor, re-insulate under same, replace some cabinets and replace damaged drywall. Total cost of the repairs? In the neighborhood of $15,000. Let me repeat that so you don't think I got the comma wrong ... fifteen thousand dollars. Attached are the pics of the valve. Please pay special attention to the tiny little green spot. It's worth a lot of money. This is the most expensive Ice maker valve you will ever buy. Can you afford it?
