I have several ice makers, from Scottsman, GE, Manitowoc and the like. We chose this one for a rental property because it was inexpensive.The ice created is fine, but it tends to come out in large blocks that we must regularly break into the actual ice cubes. There isn't a ring or holder for the ice scoop, which is also a little problematic. And the angle at which you must insert your hand, with a scoop, to get ice - especially if it's still all in one big block - is a little clumsy.But at the end of the day, these are all pretty minor issues. The ice tastes fine, it produces quickly and has been reliable now for the last 3 months. The bang-for-buck on this is inline and I would purchase it again for the same type of application.We bought this product brand new. We were under construction so we did not open it right away. The box was fine when we received it. When we went to install it, the front of the door was completely dented in and the door won't seal. It makes ice every now and then but it melts right away. The ice machine came with dents in the back of the machine and it was missing the handle. I contacted Amazon right away and they told me I could not return it because we were out of our 30 day return period and I had to contact the third party seller, Four Seasons Trading Company. I contacted them and they told me I had to contact the manufacturer, Hanover. I have contacted Hanover, Four Seasons Trading Company, and Amazon several times. Hanover told me that we could troubleshoot why it's not working right. I don't think for $1,100.00 I need to troubleshoot. Especially when it is dented and I'm not sure what components on the inside may be damaged. As of right now, we have been dealing with this problem since September 4, 2020, and I received an email today saying that the A-Z claim we filed with Amazon was denied. I gave them one star only because there is not a place to put zero stars or negative ratings. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone looking to buy an appliance.I bought this ice maker a couple months ago, however our contractor finally got it installed a week ago. Worked great for about 6 hours, then an alert started beeping saying it was a drain issue. Contacted Hanover directly and said someone would contact within 1 business day. Finally got a technician to send me an email on Tuesday, to which I replied immediately with a question, and here it is late Thursday with still no response. Customer service is pathetic. Here I am with an ice maker (which they said not to turn off after we started it) sitting there getting running and not producing ice. The inside is now warm, and a matter of time before it starts getting moldy. Waiting days to get an email, to only wait additional days for the next response is unacceptable. They have my phone number, and if they would call we could probably resolve this in no time. Email customer service is poor customer service. Would not recommend buying anything from Hanover, since there customer service is not the least bit customer friendly!Not what i was expecting of my $1000 ice maker. Has completely broken down (makes no ice) 2x in 2 years, and is only used 3 months a year.I haven't had a chance to plug it in yet to see if it works but the ice machine looks nice and matches my other items well. It did arrived damaged so I took off one star. The top corner is dented in. Not sure yet if it will affect operation. Appears to have been dropped.The drain pump was broken on the 1st unit I purchased. The company sent a replacement unit and it did not make ice, water just ran through the "ice making" portion. Both units where refunded.You are instructed to use a professional plumber to install the unit. I am about $500 for install and uninstall of both units. They will not reimburse or offer any sort of compensation for that cost. This product is a waste of time and money. Buy elsewhere.I would like to give this five stars all around however the pump stopped working all of a sudden after four months of use and my hardwood floors have now buckled. Let's see what Amazon says...Very frustrating to pay for installation and it would never produce ice. Perhaps it was damaged during shipping. The vendor was responsive when it came to accepting the return and providing a refund.
