I bought the largest size, so it does have some weight to it. It was put into a box a bit longer and much, much wider than the pin, with ZERO packing - not even a wad of paper! It had been rolling and pounding around in that box for its entire trip to me, and one end had been poked through by the loose, heavy pin. Fortunately, the hole was only about 80% torn out, so it stayed in the box and was not damaged, but come on! Use a little common sense in packing, people! This is the second item I received this week in inadequate packaging (the other item WAS damaged). I would have given 5 stars except for the terrible packing.Otherwise, it’s a lovely, straight piece of beech wood (not bamboo - the company’s name, Bamber, has confused some folks.). It’s beautifully finished and will last a lifetime.It’s an excellent kitchen tool: easy to clean, light weight and cute. Love it!Easy for both adults and children to use.The length is good for rolling out cookie dough, however I think we'll invest in a longer one as well.Handle-less makes for speedier roll outs.I mistakenly ordered the itty bitty one...lol. I haven't used it yet because of that fact but I will keep it and order the correct size because it seems like good quality wood.I bought the biggest 17.5" x 2.2" French rolling pin. People said you could go to Home Depot and just buy a dowel, for the same quality. Nope! As soon as I saw it, and held it -- I raised victory hands in the air, yelling, "It's BEAUTIFUL!" The size, weight, quality, and workmanship are beautiful.
